Mindfulness: Finding peace in a frantic world

An Introduction to Mindfulness is an eight-week programme adapted from Williams, M., & Penman, D. (2011) Mindfulness: a practical guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World by the authors & Chris Cullen. The course includes simple, effective meditation practices which have been scientifically shown to reduce stress and improve wellbeing in adults in work environments, university students, & teachers.

Ninety-minute, weekly, online sessions will include practices of sitting, walking, gentle movement, and body scans as well as group discussions related thereto You will be encouraged to practice between sessions with supplied audio meditations.

The training teaches you to:

  • Recognise stress reactivity
  • Respond to stress with mindful awareness
  • Rebalance daily life
  • Develop a regular mindfulness practice

Some of the benefits of a regular mindfulness practice can include:

  • Increased happiness and more positive emotions (linked with longevity)
  • Improved memory, enhanced sleep
  • Decreased anxiety, low mood & irritability

If you have participated in a mindfulness programme, you are welcome to join the monthly meetup. Details will be provided at the conclusion of the Finding Peace programme.
